Building Around a Belief

Sixteen years ago I started Oath around a single belief: that when you recognize life is short, you live differently. Everything we have built since then has been in service of that.

Today Patrick Reed tees off at Augusta with Oath on his shirt. It’s a milestone for Oath, and I wrote about his story last week. The short version is: he stopped deferring the life he actually wanted, and you can see it in how he plays.

Our estate planning, financial planning, and legacy work is all about creating the conditions where you can see clearly what matters to you and act on it with confidence. To examine what you actually want and then organize your life around it.

What I’ve come to understand, after sixteen years of those conversations, is that even the best plan only opens a door. What’s harder is the moment after, when everything is in order and the question shifts from “am I prepared?” to “now what?”

Most of our clients already know something about that shift. The planning was never the end, it was always supposed to make something else possible.

With Oath Play and the Oath Money & Meaning Institute, we’re turning our attention to the milestones that come after the planning, what a well-lived life actually looks like once the structure is in place.
